Blusing for Marcel

New product

Blusing for Marcel tries to merge jazz features into Moisès Bertran' style, which is made of a vertical thinking of sonority, a love for expressive melody, a more or less traditional conception of form and rhythm, and a general melancholic ambiance, typical of the Catalan character of the author.

I met Marcel Worms through Internet! I came across his web page because of a concert he was going to offer in Barcelona: a concert entitled Mompou and the blues. Being myself a total fun of Mompou’s music I wanted to learn more about the pianist who was going to do such a thing. After consulting his web page I had the courage to write him and to my surprise he wrote me back almost instantly: an Internet friendship started!
At the time I was living in Medellín, Colombia. I was planning to go to Spain and Holland in Christmas 2002-03 so I propose Marcel to meet in Amsterdam. We did meet and after exchanging musical scores and CDs Marcel very kindly asked me to write a piano piece for his blues project. I felt very honored and I readily accepted. Finally, a year and a half latter I sat down to fulfill his commission.
Blusing for Marcel is the product of this little story. A piece that tries to merge jazz features into my stile, which is made of a vertical thinking of sonority; a love for expressive melody; a more or less traditional conception of form and rhythm; and a general melancholic ambiance, typical of my Catalan character.
