Tango i Chacarera

The Tango is a modern tango on the lines of those of Piazzolla. In contrast to the tango, which is so related to the poor areas of Buenos Aires, the chacarera is rural. As this music is strongly rooted in popular music, the performer can adapt it according to his/her creativity, always bearing in mind the essential nature of each of the pieces.

This work was composed in the summer of 1994. The two movements can either be played without a break, or separately, one after the other.
The Tango is a modern tango on the lines of those of Piazzolla. In contrast to the tango, which is so related to the poor areas of Buenos Aires, the chacarera is rural.
The beginning of the Chacarera is an imitation of the percussion sound which the Argentinian groups make with the bombo legüero. The rasgueados which come later must be made in the style of the performers of this music. It is difficult to write all this out in conventional notation, so we recommend you to listen to and, if possible see the groups who perform this music. I hope that, in addition, what I have written will help to give you an idea.
As this music is strongly rooted in popular music, the performer can adapt it according to his/her creativity, always bearing in mind the essential nature of each of the pieces.
