Dibuixant by Mercè Torrents has three movements. In the first the piano continuously draws a picture while the flute expands on this, singing in various registers. The second movement describes a sense of calmness through the flute in a low register, while the piano follows it with slow chords. To end the work, the third movement brings us back to describing the happiness evoked by the sea.

The sea has always been the background music that has accompanied me throughout my life, and the sea is often a reference for me when I am composing. The work Dibuixant (Drawing) came into being after a walk by the sea. When I arrived home I sat down at the piano, moved by the need to lay down in music the feelings that the waves had awoken in me. I remember the pleasure that I felt as I wrote, or rather, as I drew this work.
It has three movements. In the first, which I have called Caminant (Walking), the piano continuously draws a picture while the flute expands on this, singing in various registers. I am particularly pleased with the second movement because it describes a sense of calmness through the flute in a low register, while the piano follows it with slow, contemplative chords. There is an overwhelming sense of peace. To end the work, the third movement brings us back to describing the happiness evoked by the sea. This work belongs within a very particular creative context.
