It was composed as a tribute to the Saeta song, from cante Jondo, of Flamenco Spanish religious tradition in Easter week. The work, with its backbone of the traditional song, is a stylization of this form because it contains clear references to an "imaginary" accompaniment of a guitar. There is a version adapted for bass clarinet.
The work has mainly didactic for high level utility itself, and also to be interpreted in recital.
