These pages for the guitar were commissioned by the guitarist David Sanz to mark the centenary of Francisco Tàrrega.
Two characteristics that are associated with Tàrrega’s work are used in Conte breu. Firstly, the virtuosic nature of the instrumental parts; fast, light passages combined with chords that are almost struck at times. Secondly, the use of fast notes almost like ornamentations, not to mention the oriental motifs that Tàrrega used in some of his works, which were characteristic features of a certain type of music in his time.
