    The Tema amb Variacions per a piano (Theme with Variations for piano) op. 70 by F. Fleta Polo dates back to 1970 and is dedicated to the composer’s daughter, the pianist Isabel Fleta. This is a piece that was originally written for the guitar (Tema con variaciones, Ref. E019) and which later formed part of the author’s first symphony, which featured a piano concertante. The track is original and features five bars. The composer’s challenge was to create the variations from such a reduced subject material. Despite this challenge leading to the composition of more than 40 variations on the proposed theme, this piece for the piano only features four of very different characters.
